The Etiquette of Wearing Branded Name Tags
It’s a jungle out there.
If there is a saying out there apt to be applied in the cutthroat world of business, then this is definitely it. One wrong move and you are out of the game. Much bigger companies can eat you right up and close you down should you make a false step.
But no matter how big or small your company might be, you stand a chance. By playing the game well, coming up with strategies that are sure to work, taking care of your clients and employees, and presenting yourself well to the public.
When you are out there in the field, your name tag becomes your very best friend. Why, you say? That is mainly due to fact that a name is one thing commonly forgotten. How can you hope to start a conversation with someone you just met and hopefully build a good rapport with the clients when they cannot even remember who you are?
There are certain rules to follow, though. When you are wearing branded name tags. Rules that can either make or break your reputation.
For example, your company is about to participate in a trade show. In that one enclosed space, so many similar companies are vying for the attention of the buyers. When preparing to go to one, before heading out the door, make sure that all your personnel who would be within the perimeter of your booth should have branded name tags especially made for that show.
Normally, the organizers of the trade show would be providing you with name tags but these are usually the generic ones. They rarely have your company logo in them. Now, this is important because clients actually seeing your logo help in brand recognition. And don’t feel silly about having to wear two name tags. After all, in advertising, it’s always about repetition.
The natural tendency is to put in too much information on it but that really shouldn’t be the case. The badges design should also be kept short and simple.
IHave your employees wear the branded name tags prominently. All people who walk in and out of your booth should be able to see it and instantly connect their name and face to that of the booth. Use the name tags to your advantage to differentiate your company from the others.
There have been constant debates as to where the name tags have to be worn. The rule of thumb, though, proscribes that it should be worn on the right side so that when you shake a client’s hand, it should be in the direct line of your hand and thus, visible. However, there are other considerations for this. If, for example, you are living in a right-sided country, you can consider wearing it on the left side so that the branded name tags can be seen by those walking by.
Just make sure that the name tag is placed on the higher part of the torso and visible even from ten feet away.
