Street Art Sales - The Most Talked About Art Movement Worldwide
Graffiti art, stencil art, vandalism.... call it what you will but there is no doubt
Street Art is the most talked about and fastest growing new wave art movement in the Western World. Like all new art movements it is largely rejected and reviled by the establishment and like all such clashes in history the revolutionary nature of this movement feeds on the rejection it feels from the mainstream.
While most people have heard of the street artists and graffiti artists who have made it - Banksy and his ilk - the reality is that the best work, the most cutting edge and interesting ideas in stencil art and graffiti art are coming from the great mass of undiscovered and unrecognised street art exponents beating the dark streets of the cities in which they live.
The Graffiti art phenomenon is here to stay. Great art movements have always developed on the fringes of society and in reaction to mainstream opinions and tastes. There's no doubt that Street Art is here to stay and will take a posiiton in the pantheon of arts movements whether the guardians of public morals and opinions like it or not.
Another great way to legitimise this underground art movement is to make it profitable. Getting in on the ground floor and looking to hire a graffiti artist early in the cycle is the right idea, if you want to do your bit to nudge the interests of the ruling classes. Street art as a movement is moving out of the alleys and into galleries the world over. It's a logical next step that interior design will be hit by this wave of change and a living room with obscenities scrawled across a wall and a light fitting which looks like old newspaper will blend tastefully with a carpet pre-stained with oil and printed with a cigarette butt motif.
