What are the Shovels Made of? While the appearance of the blade of each shovel looks like it is either plated gold of silver the reality is the cost of doing this would be prohibitive and the thinness of the plating might result in it wearing off quickly. The remarkably mirror finish of these cermonial shovels is achieved using a multi-layered painting system which actually results in a brighter and more resilient finish that could be achieved using a traditional plating system in a plating bath with suspended gold or silver particles. The real test is that everyone who sees one for the first time up close says "wow"! The impact is undeniable and these sod turning shovels are definitely an eye catcher!
