Are These Golden Shovels Eco-Friendly? There are two elements to consider in looking at the construction of one of these standout shovels. The blade itself is relativey lightweight which makes it easy to use for those dignitaries required to wield it and who have little experience of manual labour. The paint finish which produces the gold mirror effect is certainly less damaging to the environment than a traditional gold-plating process which is notorious for its use of acidic chemicals. Where this product really shines eco-wide is the beech wood handle which comes from a sustainably managed plantation. So overall it's about as eco-friendly as possible!
